MAHICO Presents: STAVROZ LIVE (Belgium) / HUSA & ZEYADA LIVE (Egypt) / MOONTIDE
We are super excited to be hosting STAVROZ, a world class four piece electronic band that has been creating waves worldwide for the last decade plus, a band on high rotation here at Mahico HQ! In support, we welcome HUSA & ZEYADA, an indie electronica duo hailing from Egypt that we have had our eyes and ears on for a while! Lastly, our dear amigo and a man that needs no introduction, MOONTIDE, will warm our hearts and the room setting us up for a night of epic proportions!
Hailing from the land of compromise in the heart of Europe, the four friends of Stavroz found each other in the east of Flanders. In its inception, IJsbrand De Wilde & Gert Beazar focussed mainly on playing DJ sets and creating music in which they loved colliding worlds. Only a few years later they hooked up with Maxim Helincks & Pieter De Meester to expand their DJ activities to a performing band and continued to try and find an unbeaten path in electronic music. This culminated in their delicately acoustic, organic and cinematic approach to electronic music. As a result, they were awarded second place for “best producer” and “best breakthrough artist” in national awards for Belgium’s electronic scene.
Their intimate live performance grew more dramatic and their unique dj sets spread like wildfire as they started frequenting many international stages. Coachella (US), Fusion Festival (DE), Wonderfruit (THA), Pukkelpop (BE), Strawberry Fields (AUS), Tropico (MX), Three Points Festival (FL, USA) all fell victim to Stavroz’s unusual dramatic, melancholic yet determined approach. The band was quickly invited by the acclaimed YouTube channel “Cercle” to perform a streaming concert at Fort Saint-Eynard in France where once again, they managed to create a wholesome, comforting soundtrack for a place, which no words can describe
Husa & Zeyada is a live electronic duo born out of a spontaneous and spacey lockdown collaboration between two very different daydreamers. The project fuses Zeyada’s synth-soaked bedroom pop with Adam Husa’s late-night deep house. Together, Husa & Zeyada simmer towards indie-rock electronica, draped in English and Arabic lyrics, open for experimentation.
This inward trip is also visual - in an ongoing comic parallel world, Husa & Zeyada give center-stage to the more curious and peculiar parts of themselves. Each release is accompanied by illustrated stories of the little creatures that inhabit our minds; the ones that spring from our subconscious, shaped by pressures and desires.
Moontide, originally a solo project of Louis, has built a name around the world for his eclectic DJ sets, not bound by one tempo or a specific genre, but intrinsically linking various cultures he has travelled to in his sets. Louis and the Ensemble have performed at leading festivals across the world including Strawberry Fields, Eclipse Festival (USA), Let Them Eat Cake, Air Festival (IND), and Rainbow Serpent to name a few. He has supported tours for international acts including Nicola Cruz, Stavroz, Rampue, Viken Arman, Martha Van Straaten, and many others.
